Faith and Conversion
Principle 3: Faith leads to conversion.
2 Nephi: 3:19-20
Faith is very important for both missionaries and investigators. Missionaries should not only increase their own faith, but more importantly, they should help investigators increase their faith. If investigators do not have faith, then they won't believe whatever we taught them. If they have faith, then they will have the desire to learn, even by themselves. So the most important thing is to let them have faith. Faith leads to conversion.
Alma: 32:7-8
Many people are seeking for the true church. As missionaries teach them the restored gospel, their faith begin to develop. Faith can help investigators to recognize the feeling of truth. When that feeling comes, faith increases and leads them to have the desire to believe the message and live the commandments. If they believe in the message, then they shall repent for their sins and obey all the commandments. That leads them to baptism and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Principle 4: Conversion includes repentance, baptism, and the reception of the gift of Holy Ghost.
Matthew 3: 16
Faith leads investigators to repentance. If the investigators have faith, then they will be willing to repent. Repentance prepares them to the ordinances of baptism. When Jesus Christ's baptism was done, the Heavenly was open unto him. He saw the Spirit of God lightening upon him. That was receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost.
2 Nephi: 31:13
After we receive the Gift of Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost will always be with us as we keep having faith and keep all the commandments. We can speak with the tongue of angels after we receive the Gift of Holy Ghost. We will always be guided by the Spirit. We will be able to learn and talk by the power of the Holy Spirit.
